The African Development Bank(AFDB) undertook the second supervision mission to the IITA/SARD-SC project, from 21 to 30 April 2014, in Ibadan, Nigeria. Members of the supervision mission were Dr. Ibrahim Amadou and mission leader, Mr. Abdullaihi B. Imoru, Principal Procurement Officer, Mr.Danladi Ebbah, Agricultural Engineer and Mr. Femi Fajuyi, Consultant Financial Management Specialist.
The objectives of the mission were to assess the implementation progress of the different project components, address present and potential problems which could negatively affect the project, follow –up on the status of implementation of the previous mission recommendations, and identify key constraints to project implementation, and jointly formulate ways and means of addressing them.
Dr. Chrys Akem, project coordinator, made various presentations to the team on Full Cost Recovery, procurement issues, pre – financing and replenishment of the Special Account, training, audit and other sundry issues. He also made presentations on various achievements recorded by the four commodity value chains; Cassava, rice, wheat and maize.
The ten- day visit was concluded by the signing of the project’s Aide Memoire by Mrs. Hilde Koper- Limbourg,Head Project Administration Office, on behalf of Dr. Kenton Dashiell, DDG, Partnership and Capacity Building, IITA while Dr. Ibrahim A. Amadou, Chief Agricultural Economist, African Development Bank signed on behalf of the Bank.
